What's new in Krapla

Hi! This is where I share the major updates to the service.

Krapla started from a real need. My wife and I had to keep the books for a non-profit called «Mokryi Nosyk» (Wet Nose) in the Volyn region of Ukraine — they take care of 75 dogs and 80 cats. Turns out we weren't the only ones who needed a tool like this, so now I'm building Krapla for everyone.

June 4, 2026 — Analytics, AI insights and more

📊 Analytics — where the money goes

A new "Analytics" page (in the menu): income and expenses by month as bars, a category breakdown, and totals for the chosen period (month / year / all time). See your spending dynamics at a glance.

💡 AI insights — "What Krapla noticed"

The home screen now has a card with 2-3 short observations about last month's spending: your biggest category, notable changes, the income/expense balance. Friendly, no judgment.

✖️ Multiplication right in the description

Type a quantity and a unit price — Krapla works out the total for you. "2 bags × 340" → 680 ₴, "10 × 680" → 6800 ₴. Works with "×", "*", or "x". Handy for bulk purchases and organization expenses.

📱 Krapla as a phone app

You can now add Krapla to your home screen — it launches full-screen like a regular app, with no browser bar. A new "Install app" menu item walks you through it step by step on Android and iPhone.

May 30, 2026 — Bank statement import and a fresh look

🏦 Monobank statement import (CSV)

No more typing every transaction by hand. Export a CSV statement from Monobank (card or jar) and upload it to Krapla — it detects the format and assigns a type, amount, and category to every operation. Duplicates are filtered out automatically, so re-importing the same file won't create a mess. You'll find the "Import" button in the menu and next to "Export CSV" on the transactions page.

🎨 Redesigned dashboard

A fresher look: a left sidebar on desktop, a handy bottom navigation bar on mobile. Added a dark month-summary card — your expenses and income at a glance. And the three ways to add a transaction — text, receipt photo, and manual — now live under a single switcher.

May 29, 2026 — Custom categories 🏷️

Now you can create your own categories for any expense or income — from "Pet food" to "Tools". Pick an emoji, color and name. Default categories you don't use can be hidden in Settings. AI considers your custom categories when reading receipts and text.

May 28, 2026 — Day streak and growing plant 🌱

Each day of tracking adds to your streak. The longer you track, the more your plant grows — from a tiny droplet to a full grove. Tap "Streak" in the menu to see your progress.

Miss a day? Your streak won't break immediately — there's gentle protection.

May 15, 2026 — Big pre-launch update

📷 Receipt photos — now with a preview before saving

Until now, the AI read the receipt photo and saved everything as transactions right away — including totals, VAT, and change. Now after recognition you see a list of every line:

  • A checkbox next to each row — untick to skip it
  • Description, amount, type and category — all editable before saving
  • The AI flags totals and fees so they start unchecked (rows have an amber ring)
  • Big phone photos are now processed faster — Krapla automatically resizes them to a reasonable size

💡 Hints on how to write so the AI gets it right

A new "💡 How to write" button below the input opens a card with examples:

  • ✅ What the AI handles well: "Royal Canin dog food 1200", "vet 800"
  • ❌ What it struggles with: "water 50" (for whom?), "100" (no description)
  • 💡 Tips: add context, use brand names, combine multiple purchases

The placeholder in the input now also rotates between different examples each time.

❓ FAQ page

A new FAQ page with 14 common questions: how the AI works, where data is stored, how to export, what Mokryi Nosyk is. Linked from the top nav and footer.

🐾 Real Mokryi Nosyk donation details

The support page now has real data:

  • Button to the Monobank jar + QR code
  • PayPal email for international donors
  • The NGO's IBAN
  • PrivatBank and A-Bank cards (UA-only section)

Every detail has a one-click "Copy" button.

📃 Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, cookie banner

Legal docs are ready — one step closer to public launch:

  • Privacy Policy — plain language, GDPR + KZPD compliant
  • Terms of Service — what Krapla does, what it doesn't, your rights
  • Cookie banner at the bottom — strictly-necessary cookies only, no analytics or tracking
  • Registration now requires explicit consent

✏️ Small registration polish

The "Name" field is now required (it was optional before, but going without it felt clunky).

May 14, 2026 — Cleaner navigation

📱 Same nav on desktop and mobile

The old mobile menu was a different beast — now a single unified MainNav. On narrow screens a slide-over sheet opens with every item: budgets, dashboard, profile, language. Easier to find your way around.

📊 Largest chart segment highlighted

Looking at the category breakdown — the biggest segment is now highlighted automatically. You see where most money goes at a glance.

📧 Better feedback notification email

Backend polish — feedback messages reach the admin inbox with nicer formatting.

May 11, 2026 — The AI got smarter

🧠 Krapla now learns from your corrections

Until now, the AI always guessed the category from scratch. From now on, whenever you correct a suggested category, the system remembers that choice for your budget. The next similar transaction is categorized correctly on its own — no AI call, much faster.

It's personal: each of your budgets has its own "learning". The more you correct, the more accurate it gets.

🎯 More accurate categorization out of the box

Added context for the AI: it now understands the difference between a personal budget and an organization. For example:

  • "dog anaesthesia" in an NGO budget → Veterinary
  • "pet food" in a personal budget → Pets
  • "wheel alignment" → Car (it used to confuse this with home repair)

Better recognition for 20+ common expenses.

📋 Categories grouped in the dropdown

The category dropdown now has "Income" and "Expenses" headers. Easier to scan through 30+ categories.

May 10, 2026 — Category housekeeping

📂 Standardized category list

Every personal budget now has 33 categories, every organization — 25. Added useful new ones: Coffee, Car, Sports & fitness, Shelter, Salaries and more.

🌐 Full localization

Fixed the English interface — every transaction-edit form is now properly translated.

✅ Type-mismatch protection

If the AI accidentally suggests a category of the wrong type, the system now corrects it on its own.

May 5–7, 2026 — Early fixes

🐛 Critical bug fixes:

  • OTP registration
  • Password reset via email
  • Editing the budget name
  • Spending-by-category charts
  • Category localization
  • Eye icon on password fields

🚀 Infrastructure shipped:

  • Custom domain krapla.app
  • Email via Resend
  • Hybrid AI with confidence scoring
  • Quick-add from the home screen
  • Feedback widget
  • CSV export for transactions

What's next

I'm working on:

  • 🏦 Monobank statement import (CSV)
  • 🎨 Custom categories — bring your own beyond the built-ins
  • 📱 PWA — Krapla as a phone app
  • 🔍 SEO — so Google can find Krapla

If something doesn't work as expected — hit the feedback button in the bottom-right corner. I read every message.

Thanks for using Krapla.
